DANCE MIX
A project about the visual language, packaging and social memory of dance music and compilation culture.
Dance Mix looks at the objects and visual language that surrounded electronic dance music: compilation artwork, club flyers, typography, track listings, physical media and the design vocabulary of the 1990s and early 2000s.
It is a research-and-making project rather than a nostalgia exercise. The aim is to understand why this visual culture worked and what it still communicates now.
The project connects directly to the Clubhouse interest in music history, design, physical media and the cultural memory carried by ordinary objects.
